Statement by the Chair of the NAM Ministers, Minister NC Dlamini Zuma, on Iraq's Decision to Allow UN Weapons Inspectors

The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) welcomes the announcement that the Government of Iraq has taken a decision to unconditionally allow the return of the weapons inspectors in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions.

It is the Movement’s (NAM) hope that this development will now pave the way for a comprehensive and peaceful solution of all pending issues between Iraq and the United Nations that takes into account the concerns of all parties.

The Movement (NAM) reaffirms its position on the need for the respect of Iraq’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity and political independence in accordance with the United Nations Charter and International law.
