Statement on the Ministerial Meeting in Cape Town, 12 December 2002

The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Foreign Ministers meeting began today, Thursday, 12th December 2002, in Kleinmond, Western Cape. The meeting convened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, as chairperson of NAM is attended by the following countries: Algeria, Colombia, Cuba, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Jamaica, Jordan, Malaysia, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Amre
Moussa.

The meeting will discuss the challenges facing the Non-Aligned Movement in the 21st century against the backdrop of the need to push back the frontiers of poverty and underdevelopment.
